therapies such as chemotherapy, radiation and/or surgery. An herbal formula used in this way can be

prevention and recurrence of cancer.

Through the intuition we learn to see the patterns and resonances in Nature,
between plant and disease, plant and organ, plant and humanity. These resonances
are called 'signatures'. As we learn to think intuitively we gain wisdom of the inner
workings and relationships inside Nature. Most importantly, intuitive thinking
constitutes a spiritual path, as taught by Rudolf Steiner, which allows us to see the
essence in others and in Nature, and to develop the essence or individuality within
ourselves.
Differentiating Diaphoretics
~~Jim McDonald~~
While people commonly think of diaphoretics as "herbs to use during fevers to
make you sweat", this is a limited understanding of an immensely important class of
herbs that is as, if not possibly more, important than other classes of immune herbs
that boost white blood cell production or kill microbes. Join Jim McDonald in an
exploration of the fundamental role of diaphoretics in immunity, and how they can be
used to support and enhance the body's vital response to infections from influenza
to the common cold. Special attention will be paid to the differentiation and use of

diagnosis is a Planetary diagnostic method used in Traditional Chinese Medicine,

Medical systems of diagnosis. The remarkable thing is that the Eight Principles forms the
most basic and yet the most essential level of understanding for all systems and methods
of disgnosis and can be easily incorporated into the practice of Ayurvedic Medicine, Western
herbal medicine and even contemporary Western allopathic medicine. The Eight Principles
serves as an energetic basis for the diagnosis and treatment both of one's constitution as well
as specific disease imbalances. By employing it, one can achieve greater efficacy and safety in
treatment - even to the use of conventional medicine.
Foods and Herbs for Children's Health
~~Lesley Tierra~~
Children's illnesses are particularly responsive to herbal treatment. There are a number of
very safe, effective herbs that effectively treat illnesses more common to children. Many of
these actually grow as weeds and/or can be found in most gardens and kitchens. In treating
children, however, it is necessary to address diet as well since poor food choices ae one of the

and increase children's immunity to enhance prevention of illnesses in the first place
whenever possible.

Essential Oils - The Soul of Nature or Dangerous Toxins?
~~Mindy Green~~
The controversy surrounding essential oils has sparked some fierce debate - are they the
answer to the new super bugs, the path to enlightenment or dangerously harmful
substances? Paracelsus said, "The right dose differentiates a poison from a remedy." Four
hundred years later the subject of safety, dosage and application of these aromatic
compounds has resulted in diverse opinions, even in the complementary care community.
What about skin sensitivities, toxicity and safety issues? Are 'Rain Drop Therapy' and 'live
embalming' safe techniques? How are absorption rates affected? What about neat
application, internal routes or oral application? Should we use homeopathic or heroic
dosing? What about the ecological impact? We will explore these and many more
contentious issues about essential oil therapies through looking at the history, exploring the
chemistry, and searching the literature (or lack there of) as we strive to find a reasonable
approach to using these fragrant botanicals as integrative therapeutic tools.
